T480 - L850-GL WWAN "lost" and installs as USB-Com device

Until yesterday, the Fibocom L850-GL worked perfectly in my T480. After a restart, the device was gone and instead the error message "Detected unrecognized USB driver" appears permanently three times in the system log. The device manager recognizes a USB-Com device instead of the Fibocom.

Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\pci).

Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\ACPI).

Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\UDE).

Even after a clean Windows 10 Pro (1803) installation, the error is repeated.

The original installation of Windows 10 Pro (1803) immediately detected and installed the Fibocom.

BIOS is up to date.

For now I deactivated the device.

Any hint?

Re: T480 - L850-GL WWAN "lost" and installs as USB-Com device

I see 2 items of interest.

(1) Microsoft pushed out updates to 1803 this week.

1803 july 25.PNG (2) Lenovo added new drivers to your support page this week for stated device.

- Fixed an issue where L850-GL driver might fail to update the firmware.

I would update your device with driver from your support page.

Some more information:

The hcmon warnings are irrelevant.

But even with the original Lenovo USB Recovery Image the Fibocom WWAN is not recognized.

Of course I installed all the latestest drivers and firmware.

Hi,

It looks WWAN card is in abnormal mode.

Can you check Device ID(VID/PID) for COM12 port?    It may be helpful to find information.

Thanks

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? I have it too on X1 gen 6 with L850-GL.

After update of Windows or update from Lenovo Vantage the WWAN adapter is gone.

I do have

a USB Serial port that I dont recognise:

VID: 8087

PID: 0ACC

it happened to me also. no matter what i tried , it did not work. so i went with the laptop in service and they replaced the card, telling me it was faulty. i guess that is the solution.

good luck!
