T480 PCIe NVME Win7 Driver issues

2018-10-10, 13:53 PM

Hello

I've tried to install Windows 7 on Thinkpad T480.

I have issues on the SSD NVME PCIe storage driver.

SSD S/N LENSE20256GMSP34MEAT2TA

Lenovo's own NVME storage with 256gb.

I'm missing some drivers for it and I've tried several Samsung, Toshiba and Intel NVME drivers.

The image is based on a virtual pc, that is fully windows updated.

I use SCCM to put the image on the T480.

I have no trouble on running the image, I only have trouble starting Windows, after the image has run. (Missing NVME drivers)

I have inserted the NVME update KB2990941 for Windows 7 and made a .Wim image using Imagex.

I tried using Lenovo support drivers with no luck.

I inserted several Samsung, Toshiba and Intel drivers from this website:

https://www.win-raid.com/t29f25-Recommended-AHCI-RAID-and-NVMe-Drivers.html

I've had luck on inserting the right driver for ThinkCentre M910s, with Samsung drivers from there.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the driver for the Lenovo NVME storage ?

Since they dont have the drivers on their support site.

I don't know if this is the least bit helpful, but I have a T480 with SAMSUNG MZVLB1T0 1Gb SSD

I've been concerned that I may not have the "most appropriate" driver but ...

What is currently installed is:  Microsoft provided driver:  V 10.0.17134.1

Hello, I have faced similar issues in the past with my T470, and I managed to successfully install windows 7 with no issues.

However this will likely be different for you as my T470 is officially supported, while the T480 isn't.

Here is a link to the process that I used to insert the drivers into the iso:

Thanks!

I may be rebulding some T470 units soon - this could come in VERY handy  :-)

Hello,

did you find a solution for this topic?

I have a t480s and need to install win7. Problem is about the nvme drivers during setup. I followed several guides about adding drivers and hotfixes to win7 iso but it won't work. Is it even possible? :/

Thanks!
