I can't update my ssd firmware on my T480 with the zip package and following the attached instructions in the txt file.
Windows udpate is 1809, fresh setup, unencrypted ssd, bios 1.19. Basically all latest update from System Update.
Any idea of what could be a "device reason" or code RC=0x1? See attached screenshot
- my SSD is WD 512Go model SN720 (full description in screenshot)
- my firmware is 10114101 and want to update to 10130101

I am having the exact same issue on multiple T480 laptops. Cannot update through Vantage/System Update or manually by running the update tool when downloaded through the T480 driver update page.

It came preinstalled in my T480.
Just in case, I tried the WD SSD Dashboard tool (which includes firmware update checking) but it says firmware is up to date. Lenovo's firmware is more recent obviously.

What is boring is that System Update wants to install this update and it fails all the time.
I even downloaded the archive from thinkpad update webpage, my SSD is listed in the "txt" information file and should be updated (you see the screenshot too).
The drive behaves normally, I am not hurry to update it.
