Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

@akinvic

Can you please post some pictures showing how reflective the WQHD screen is? Like overhead lights, by the windows, having dark page or image on screen, etc.
Thanks.

Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

Does your laptop have IR camera and how is your experience using IR camera  ?

Camera Thinkshutter, is it too flimsy and difficult to slide to cover the camera ?

Thanks Again !!!

Yes, the WQHD screen comes with the IR cam. Mine works flawlessly though I prefer the fingerprint reader. The Thinkshutter is just a small plastic slider but I wouldn't be moving it back and forth too much, and it requires a fingernail to do so (or a small tool).

Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

On my T490 I use Windows Hello for login.  Works great.  The fingerprint scanner is not very accurate.  Just barely better than on my X1 Y3.  When I say accurate it takes more than 1 attempt 60% of the time.  The think shutter does not feel flimsy at all. It was difficult to use it for the first 4-5 times.  Now its much easier but not "loose"

Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

I find I have to clean the fingerprint reader from time to time for it to maintain its accuracy; it's probably close to 90% then. However, my X230T's fpr is more accurate, I'd rather have that older one on this laptop tbh

Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

Any word yet on when on when the 4k 500nit screen will be available on the T590? The most I can find is that it's "Coming Soon" on the Tech Specs part of the T590 page, which used to say "Available Summer 2019". I even chatted with their support and they said they didn't know.

Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

I chatted with support again and they told me the 4k screen will probably be available by the second week of July. They'll send me an email when it's available. I'd imagine review sites are waiting for the 4k screen to review the T590 so hopefully we'll start seeing reviews my mid July.

Hey, could you measure your display response times? Notebookcheck specifically criticized the response times with the low power FHD screen. I was hoping that you could provide the response times for the WQHD as a comparison.

Actually, response times for any of the other screens would be helpful

Re: T490 & T590 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

Can anyone confirm what type of display they're currently offerring with 400 nits? According to psref there are 2, low-power and privacy guard. However, when I go to customize, I only see the following

14.0" FHD (1920x1080), IPS, 400nits, Anti-Glare

Please note: IR camera will automatically be selected with this display, at an additional cost.

I've already chatted with the customer support a few weeks back, he said he needed to confirm, but until now no email response from lenovo. Right now this is the only thing holding me back on my purchase.
