Anyone ever found a solution to this? I have now tried the Corsair 2x4GB modules AND Kingston KVR13S9S8K2/8 same issues. I get the 1-3-3-1 error not ONE module gets accepted by the system, back to the old 2x2GB no problems WHAT so ever. Can it be a hard-lock? and if so, how do I correct/unlock it? have tried one module at a time. and in each memory port. nothing works with the new memory modules. only the old 2x2GB modules.
It's a 2055-WU7 type.

Economy memory modules are known to have problems with ThinkPads, Kingston Value RAM mostly never works (while other lines from Kingston like the Hyper-X one do work without issue).
In my experience, Corsair has also a love-hate relation with ThinkPads, Corsair "Value Select" line almost never work, while some Corsair modules branded for Apple sometimes do work.
For this generation I'd stick to brands like Samsung, Elpida, Crucial, Hynix, just to name a few...
