I am having a strange behavior on my thinkpad T500 (2081-CTO)
Not sure if you started when I change the wireless board (realtek for a intel wifilink 5300) or when I update the BIOS in Windows Vista.
The symptom is as follows:
When I turn on the notebook (AC connected and battery, only the battery, or AC only) after a few seconds it restarts.
When I try to boot windows or linux, while starting the notebook is restarted.
The same happens if I enter the BIOS and stay there awhile, setting parameters, enabling or disabling things. My thinkpad is restarted.
After 4 or 5 reboots automatic, the system starts normally. LOL
This does not happen if I turn on my thinkpad (after 3 or 4 reboots, or more) and I use it for a few hours. Then I shut down or restart, and turn on normally.
Only happens when I turn on after being off a few hours, or maybe an entire night.
I want to clarify that once the system boots, everything works wonderfully without any problems.
It's really weird.
Today I upgrade again the BIOS to the latest version, using the BOOT CD, and the behavior persists (just updated with the hope that this behavior goes away).
I will try to record with my camera this behavior (and upload it to youtube or other service), may help clarify the problem.
I hope I have expressed correctly, but my English is a bit basic.
Thanks for your attention, and I hope you can guide me to solve this problem.
Please refrain from responses like: "send it to Lenovo," because the thinkpad was bought in USA and now i'm in Argentina.

Hello takedown,
don´t know if I understood you correctly, but it seem you installed a new wireless card.
I would suggest de-attach the wireless card and check if the problem will occur then.

Any ?/problems in the Device Manager?
Any errors in the Event Viewer?
Try booting into Safe Mode. If problem continues it is likely hardware.
If problem stops, it is likely a software problem.

First of all, I wanted to thank you for your attention.
The option to remove the network card and see if the problem continues, is something I had in mind, but preferred to avoid disarming my notebook again.
Any? / Problems in the Device Manager? None
Any errors in the Event Viewer? None

Looking for a solution to this problem, I discovered that the problem is the wireless card.
The wireless card works perfectly, but when the notebook is turned on, for some reason, sometimes restarts, as told above.
If the notebook is restarted, the most common is re-ignite and re-started again 4 or 5 times until it turns on normally.
What alerted me to this, it always restarts at the same time, when the operating system loads the hardware modules (drivers). This in windows can't be appreciated as windows display a beautiful progress bar without any info, but gnu/Linux have a detail of the boot process, and I note that always happened at the same time (Loading modules...).
The solution I found was turning on the computer with wireless card locked (hard lock), and once the operating system became the stage of module loading, only then I unlock it.
The good news is that everything works perfectly, the trouble is that I have to remember to block the wireless card every time I turn on the notebook.
What causes my attention is that starting the notebook with wireless card blocked, is that the operating system loads the modules anyway, and secondly that the wireless card works perfectly.
