symptoms:
it takes around 10 or so minutes to get to the thinkpad press f1 to set up screen, after that it gives me a screen that says ME is initializing, this is after a bios update and subsequent roll back of the bios. both bios updates now give me the same result. sleep functions also seems to not work, once im into windows my t500 operates as usual.
what I've done:
in addition to rolling back the drivers Ive disconnected /reconnected the cmos battery and turned off AMT. ive also made sure that all of my drivers are up to date.
machine is a 2081-cto running on win7
anyone have any idea what i can do? i still have a long warranty but would like to solve it myself so i dont have any down time.

after downgrading the bios further, i got it to boot a bit quicker but not as quick as i would like. another issue i just encountered is that sleep doesnt work any more. any idea what it could be?

I updated the T500 BIOS to the lastest version too. Similar problem now, it takes 10 minutes to boot (seems stuck in BIOS), then it boots normally into Vista. Did you find a fix for this problem, or just went back to the old BIOS.
Thanks, Dinny

Hi guys and welcome to the forum, dinny.
You might try fiddling with the BIOS setting for the security (TPM) chip:
F1 at boot to get to BIOS setup, then Security, then Security Chip.
I have mine set to "Disabled" but have seen other reports that setting it to "Enabled" can cure bootup delays.
Worth a try, please let us know if it helps you.
Good luck,
Frank

Bummer.
Let's back up a step... is your T500 able to start up from boot CDs like those I suggested in the other thread?

it doesnt even get to the thinkpad bios screen, im just gonna send it in. its too much of a headache for me to deal with, any idea how long most service requests take?

In my experience, service has been very quick, 2-3 business days from the time you send in your ThinkPad to the time you get it back. It does depend on parts availability, though: if the part your machine needs is backordered, it could take a week or two. I guess if yours won't even get to the bios setup screen anymore--the sooner you send it in, the better.
Good luck & please keep us posted.
