T510, first impression of FHD screen

After about 12 hours with this laptop, here are some impression of the screen (I'm not going to comment on performance, notebookcheck has a very good article on that)

- I was looking for a high resolution screen for coding, this is IT. The fact that it is 16x9 works out nicely so I can fit two consoles side by side

- Colors look very vivid, though I'm not using for any sort of photo publishing

- Screen is BRIGHT, I use it at 13/15 because max out setting is just a bit too bright

- Great contrast, I put this screen side by side with my T60 and it is a world of difference

Overall I'm pretty happy with this beside the fact that it took almost 2 months for the order.

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

Thanks for the impressions.  I am also trying to maximize my screen real-estate for coding.

Here's hoping mine ships soon since they are not available on new orders.

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

how long did it take from the time it was shipped until it was delivered?  II have a T510/FHD/SSD that shipped on 3/8 and wondering if I will be here when it is delivered Smiley Happy

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

I just finished a complete format / fresh intall of Windows 7 Professional on my T510 w/ FHD.

The screen looks great -- the default THINK "profile" and color pallete looked really dated to me.

Phong -- did you notice that from the factory, the text is actually magnified to 125% by Lenovo?

I bumped mine down to 100%; small, but still definitely usable.

For reference, you can find that by Right clicking on the Desktop, going to Screen Resolution -> Make text and other items larger or smaller

I didn't do fresh install but I did go through and clean out the crapwares and a bunch of lenovo stuffs I didn't like. Yeah they probably uppped the font size for people who are not used to tiny text. At 100%, it is small but fairly sharp.

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

Hi,

Anyone know what's up with the lenovo site and FHD option on the T510?   I went looking today for to buy a T510 w/ the FHD screen and low and behold, the FHD opiton has disappeared from the customize list.   I've GOT to have the 1920 x 1080 size so now this is a no-purchase.   This is pretty insane.   Thanks, G. Mobley

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

They removed it because the backlog on the order is crazy right now. It took me close to two months and a couple of phone calls to get mine and I ordered it pretty early on back in jan.

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

Thanks!.  I'll move my frustration over to the shipping thread and try to keep this one clean.  Be glad you got the FHD!

Later!

Re: T510, first impression of FHD screen

Hi phuongdnguyen,

Can you please tell me what is the type-model of your T510?

An example from the tabook.pdf of a type-model for a T510 is "4313-28U".

I couldn't find in the tabook.pdf a type-model for a T510 with an FHD screen.

TIA
