Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

Hi Muhammadfarooq,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that you had difficulties to turn on Bluetooth in your Lenovo ThinkPad T520.

Ensure that Hardware switch to enable wireless connections has been turned on.

1.jpg

Go to BIOS -> Security ->I/O port access ->Check if Bluetooth is enabled.

Tap FN + F5 and enable Bluetooth radio.

Now check if you can find Bluetooth radios in device manager.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Mithun.

Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

Thanks Mithun for quick reply.

Yes wireless switch is on, I am assuming the same switch enables WIFI also? I am to connect yo WIFI network but not Bluetooth.

In BIOS, Bluetooth is turned on.

FN+F5 doesn't bring any thing on screen.

And I don't see Bluetooth device in device manager.

Will appreciate if you help me identify further,

Regards

Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

Are you showing any unknown devices in Device Manager?

Regards.

Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

Hi Muhammadfarooq,

What happens when you press FN+F5?

Install the latest hotkey integration features and Lenovo Access connections and check if a window comes up while pressing FN+F5 to turn on Bluetooth radio.

Best regards,

Mithun.

Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

Hi Muhammadfarooq,

Nice to hear that Bluetooth started working now.

Try updating your power manager and power management driver as well and check if FN+F5 shows up wireless connections window.

Best regards,

Mithun.

Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

I had the same problem. I installed the hotkey integration features and Lenovo Access connections and now get the window when I press FN+F5 but I have no idea what to set/click on, enable etc to connect to a bluetooth speaker that is flashing - can someone explain EXACTLY what I need to do. The device was picked up and appears when I use the blue "B" Bluetooth icon from the popup from the right of taskbar and "Show Bluetooth Devices" but I don;t know how to getthe devices to pair - it was really simple with my sony Android tablet and my Sony mobile phone to connect to this speaker but I've spent hours on this today to try and get the my T520 connected and I've got nowhere - why the hell is isit so much more complicated with Windows 7 Pro/Lenovo?

Re: T520 - Bluetooth issue

I ordered the Bluetooth card off of Amazon and during the installation, found that it already had a Bluetooth card installed in my 4239 machine - this was after updating, checking bios for Bluetooth and Clt+Fn5 did not work.

The solution for this machine was to update to the latest bios and the hardware was recognized immediately.
