I recently (as in, last week) got a new T520. Much to my frustration, it is running a lot of games (Cities in Motion) more slowly than my older T500; more frustrating still, it won't even run Victoria 2, period, in its main mode. Is the problem the computer? Or is it the games (most of which were designed with Windows XP or, at most, Vista in mind)?

It sounds a little bit like a power issue. Are you using the power supply that came with the system? It should be 135W for the T520 with quad-core processor. The T520 won't be able to run at full speed if you're using a different power supply.

Which card are you using? NVIDIA NVS 4200M graphics card or solely the Intel HD Graphics 3000?

Can you give us specs of both machines or machine type/ model?

The one I am having trouble on is a T520 with:
OS & build/SP: Windows 7, 64-bit
Computer, CPU & speed: Intel Core i7-2720QM CPU, 2.20 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Free HDD space: 394 GB
Video (brand, model, driver, memory): NVIDIA NVS 4200 1 GB
Sound (brand, model, driver): Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD
I'm using the power plug and battery that came standard on the system..what else do you need from me on this one?
As to the older one, it's a T500 with:
OS & build/SP: Windows XP (32-bit)
RAM: 3 GB
Free HDD space: [I think it's hovering around 130 GB]
I'll need to check in the morning on the other stuff.
