I guess this is a very old thread, but I am having the same problem with my ThinkPad T520.
The battery is fine, but it will not power the laptop. I'm thinking it may be a pico fuse on the motherboard.
Turning the laptop off for a few minutes as suggested does not work. Taking the battery out and pushing the power button for 30 seconds does not work. Buying a new battery just because Lenovo says my old one is dead does not work for me.
Anyone else having similar problems?

There is a fuse and there are power transistors. Either can fail. It is best if you can get another battery to try, especially if yours is an aftermarket one, since they often fail.
