T530 - 2nd Hard Drive In Caddy Disappears

brand new t530, ordered with two hard drives. lenovo caddy in ultrabay. it seems

that ultrabay hard drive is going off to sleep mode after a period of inactivity. is there

a was to disable powering down of the hard drive  in ultrabay because this is not

acceptable. any ideas? much appreciated.

edit: i am not using a dvd drive nor will i be switching between dvd drive

in ultrabay and caddy with hard drive. caddy with hdd will always be in

ultrabay and i'd like to have access to it at all times. also, i  don't have lenovo

power manager installed. there's just power management in control panel of

windows 8 and i have turned all power savings off. although, in windows 8 (afaik)

there is no setting for ultrabay or anything similar. also, all hard drive power off

settings are disabled meaning they are set to 99999 minutes.

Re: T530 - 2nd Hard Drive In Caddy Disappears

You need your Lenovo Tool Box.  It comes installed.  It has the power manager you need for all components.  You can't rely on just Windows.  What happens when you press the Blue Button?

Re: T530 - 2nd Hard Drive In Caddy Disappears

Hi, if your issue still hasn't been resolved, hopefully this will help:

1) Go into your BIOS, navigate to the "Power" configuration and if you see something like "Intel Rapid Start" disable it.

2) THIS IS WHAT SOLVED MY PROBLEM: On your caddy or ultrabay you will find a switch, it's very small and the location of this switch will depend on which manufacturer built the caddy/ultrabay (example of what it looks like, here: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/3/4/5/0/2/7/webimg/809401815_o.jpg), just slide this switch to the opposite side and push the caddy back in (make sure its fully inserted) and your issue should be resolved.

My issue was with the SSD in my caddy / ultrabay slot disappearing after waking / resuming from sleep mode. Every second sleep wake/resume or reset would solve the issue but it was really frustrating.
