T530: Dolby Audio: driver version and application version mismatch

2012-10-14, 3:29 AM

Hello,

Few days ago I run Lenovo software update utility. There was an update available for the dolby audio driver and I applied it. Since then every time I reboot the computer the dolby audio application fails to start (it is in the start up). The message displayed is "The current Dolby audio driver version is 7.2.8000.14 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.7. Please install a valid driver and software application combination." There is no available download for the application in the support section of Lenovo's website. This problem caused some applications to stop working (e.g. Spotify reports an error with the sound card and fails to play music).

Please, advice. Thank you.

Welcome to Lenovo Community! :D tpuser_00

How about try rolling back to previous driver that works?

Go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > double click Realtek >  click on Drivers tab > click on Roll Back Driver.

Have a nice day! :smileytongue::smileyhappy::smileyvery-happy:

PeterTWJ,

Thank you for your help. This is exactly what I did when I discovered the problem. Anyway this is a workaround and dosn't solve the problem which is that either the new driver is broken or the update doesn't include all necessary components in order to work.

Regards,

Same problem here.

And I can't find the device in device manager to roll it back.
But as tpuser_00 said, it's not a solution.

I've got the same problem

But I've solved it, I think so

First I unistalled the driver Conexant HD Audio

2. I rebootet my Computer and windows (I think so) installed the right driver. Its the same, if you connect a USB-Stick the first time.

Since then, I didn't get this error message.

Sorry if I made some mistake, I'm from Switzerland and my English isn't the best

Hi all

If you are using the Lenovo Preload of Windows, under C:\, there should be a folder named SWTOOLS. In the SWTOOLS folder, go to DRIVERS folder and search for the audio driver to install back to the older version where it works.

Usually, the older version of driver that is used in the Lenovo Preload image is in the SWTOOLS > DRIVERS folder.

Hope this answers your question! :)

Have a nice day! :smileytongue::smileyhappy::smileyvery-happy:

I've got this problem too.  Which folder is the driver under after getting to the audio drivers?

One of our users uninstalled the Dolby application, then did not have any sound.

After a reboot everything worked perfectly again.

Thinkpad T530.  After every boot getting panel with message: Dolby Profile Editor has stopped working.  Get same message when I select Control Panel -> Dolby Advanced Audio.  Unistalled both Dolby and Realtek from Control Panel -> Programs.  Then re-installed latest Realtek driver without any issues.  But still getting "Dolby Profile Editor has stopped working".  Dolby no longer shows up in list of programs.  How do I fix this problem?
