T530 Wireless+Bluetooth Replacement Card

2017-01-01, 22:33 PM

Hi, there. We own a T530 that has an Intel N-2200 WiFi card built in. We're interested if there is a replacement WiFi Intel card that also has Bluetooth connectivity and if so, which one is whitelisted by Lenovo (BIOS)?

Thank you.

Hi,

Looking at the Hardware Maintenance Manual  it appears that Bluetooth capability is provided by a daughter card, not a wifi combo card.

The FRU numbers are listed in the system service parts document:  https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/t530_fru_bom_20131007.pdf

They seem to be inexpensive and available on Amazon, as one example.

[edit] Based on the docs I don't think an additional cable is required, but I can't be absolutely certain.

Z.

We've figured that maybe a daughter card could be the solution. But, about the cable you've mentioned. We didn't see any cables in the Lenovo's FRU list listed, regarding the BT daughter card. Could you be more specific as to which cable is, if it's at all, needed?

Thanks.

Hi,

As I said above, I don't think that an additional cable is required, but can't absolutely confirm that since I don't have a similar machine to check.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Just to confirm, no extra cables needed. Bluetooth daughter card simply connects to the slot on the motherboard. Bought one on Amazon (#FRU: 60Y3303/60Y3305) for a silly amount of moneys, like 9$ or something along those lines. Working as advertised, no problems whatsoever.
