Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

Here's what I get for both of the suggested commands. I am not sure what is expected here but nothing looks "bad".

PS C:\windows\system32> powercfg /requestsoverride
[SERVICE]

[PROCESS]

[DRIVER]

PS C:\windows\system32> powercfg /requests
DISPLAY:
None.

SYSTEM:
None.

AWAYMODE:
None.

EXECUTION:
None.

PERFBOOST:
None.

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

The powercfg -requests showed that srvnet was holding back sleep. I put in the override for it, restarted and attempted to use the power button or close the lid and nothing has changed.

I decided to reinstall Windows 8.1 this weekend. I did this, installed the network driver and then used Lenovo System Update to get the rest. It installed the power management driver as part of this. Still, nothing puts the computer to sleep.

The only way I can do it is by opening the right side menu and then going to the Power menu and selecting sleep. Needless to say I'm starting to feel disappointed with my choice of the T540p.

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

Hi Adamstirtan,

Can you please check with updating the BIOS once, because it is mentioned that they have a fixed this issue with the latest BIOS. Below is the link for the latest BIOS update.

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

I'm not seeing a fix for failure to sleep.

From the BIOS Readme:

[Problem fixes]
- Fixed an issue where the computer might fail to resume from sleep state when
the Memory Card Slot was disabled in ThinkPad Setup.
- Fixed an issue where WOL failed when "Always on USB" disabled.

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

I updated to that version about a week ago before posting here. It doesn't fix this unfortunately.

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

Try sleep from a bootable Linux live CD/USB. If it doesn't work there, it might just be a hardware defect.

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

Finally got around to trying out a different OS. Using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS from USB closing the lid does not put the computer to sleep. I suppose then it is a hardware problem.

Can someone from Lenovo explain the next steps?

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

Hi Adamstirtan,

This could be issue with system board, but before doing any changes in the hardware I suggest you check with reinstallation of the Operating System once. After this we can get the confirmation whether it is an hardware issue or software issue.

Hope this helps!

Re: T540p will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

I also have this problem with a recently purchased Think Pad Yoga 15. Posted the issue: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Chromebooks-ThinkPad-11e-X-and/Yoga-15-Won-t-wake-up-from-Sleep/m-p/211... Tried all the steps mentioned in this posting. Sounds like I need to return the laptop and get a new one.
