T560 - Fingerprint sensor not working when laptop awakes from sleep

Hi,

I have a new T560 and have found that sometimes the fingerprint sensor stops working when the laptop awakes from sleep. The fingerprint sensor will work as expected once the laptop has been restarted.

Windows 10

Have run an update for latest drivers using Lenovo Companion.

Moderator comment: Model added to subject for clarity.

Re: T560 - Fingerprint sensor not working when laptop awakes from sleep

Welcome to the forums M64!

Let me make sure I understand this.  When the sensor stops working after sleep, at this point it doesn't show up in Device Manager?

Are you using latest BIOS version?

Re: T560 - Fingerprint sensor not working when laptop awakes from sleep

Hi Shashi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, I'm on BIOS 1.06.

I believe the sensor still showed under Device Manager even when it was not working - as the issue is intermittent I can't test this right now, but next time the sensor stops working, I will check if it still shows in Device Manager under 'Biometric devices'.

Edit: when I say 'not working', I mean the fingerprint sensor will not display a green light or respond when a finger is run over it.

Try to go to the device manager, and right click on the fingerprint reader device>properties>power management and uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
