TPM 1.2 Support on ThinkPad 460s?

2017-08-02, 5:58 AM

I've got a ThinkPad 460s that doesn't have have the option to select TPM 1.2 in the BIOS. We're planning on updating to TPM 2.0 and EUFI when we roll out Win10, which is in testing currently, but we need to use TPM 1.2 to support BitLocker on Win7 for now. We have other 460s that have the option to choose from Discreete TPM 1.2 or Intel PTT with TPM 2.0 but this one machine is missing the 1.2 option. How can we change this?

Thanks,

-Steve

I have never seen a T460s that has a TPM that doesn't have the option to switch between Discrete TPM and Intel PTT.  So personally I wonder if that particular unit has some problem.

Could it be a problem with a very early BIOS?  Do the machines all have the same BIOS versions?

That's what I was wondering (if this particular machine has an issue). I was just worried that we'd start seeing more like this. It sounds like that's not the case though so I'm not going to worry about it until we do. I'll let your Service Desk manager deal with this as faulty hardware.

Thanks!

I thought it might be a BIOS issue so I updated the BIOS to the latest but nothing changed. Sounds like a hardware issue. I'll see about swapping this machine out under warranty.

Thanks,
