ThinkPad T410 with 128SSD harddrive performance data?

2010-01-22, 10:03 AM

Hi,

Is there any reviews available about 128SSD disks that will come with some models on T410?

I really want to know detailed specs about speed and if it supports Windows 7 TRIM?

Thanks!

I have no idea, where the problem might be. i probably try to recover from recovery partition to clean system and try on fresh system again, if there is no problem somewhere in drivers.

Does anyone know how to enable firm support for Samsung SSD drive?

Pleon your drives performance will go much better if you have trim support on your drive.

Your drive write performance is relly bad as i can see from your results. TRIM will make write operations almost as fast as drive was brand new.

We want TRIM...

We want TRIM...

We want TRIM...

And now everybody together:

We want TRIM...

We want TRIM...

Windows 7 suppose to recognize the SSD upon installation and deal with it accordingly. You SSD model number starts out with MMCRE? I have the same drive and the bench number is much higher. The only thing I can think off to try is to complete reformat and reinstall windows.

here is a long thread on these ssd and benchmarks

Yeahh, my SSD model is SAMSUNG MMCRE28G8MXP-0VB, i have uploaded last firmware, but same bad performance in CrystalDisk. You are probably right, without TRIM the SSD will definitely after some time of usage go down with speed. Ihave seen lot of performance screens of others with nice performance, but ythese are on new laptops i think. I have bought another T400s to my accountant and performance on this new machine is good as well. Question, how it will be after half year of usage. may be its good time to make some reformat of SSD and put system back, to reset SSD to default speed, but i do not know, how.

just for info, due to my bad performance in CrystalDisk, i tried this

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?64753-A-simple-guide-for-gen1-owners(-Apex-solid-core-V1-V2)-or-raid-array-owners-who-want-to-consolidate-free-space-and-clean-the-remaining-Nand-on-the-drives-OCZ-gen2-drives-Vertex-Agility-Solid2-TURBO-owners-with-FW-1-5-you-do-not-need-this

now my numbers are much better. Its may be better solution, than to reformat completely, because this keeps all data and is question of several minutes to do.

Re: ThinkPad T410 with 128SSD harddrive performance data?

For those that want a SSD for the T410 you might want to consider buying the T410 with a cheap HDD and buy a SSD separately instead of the included Samsung SSD. Seems like the Samsung SSD's isn't really among the fastest available. Also other models like the Intel support trim.

For comparison here are the results with a Intel X25-M G2, 160gb. I use the Intel Matrix Storage and not the Microsoft AHCI driver so have to run trim manually using the Intel SSD Toolbox, but it's very fast to run and just do it manually about once each week. Using the Microsoft AHCI driver trim is handled by Windows 7 though so no need for the SSD toolbox. Also i read there are some new SSD's that is supposed to be even a bit faster than the Intel SSD's so the Samsung SSD's isn't really among the best SSD's and i think some of the results posted here are very low for a SSD.

Except from outouser Sequential Write the Intel seems to be pretty much faster at the rest of the tests.
