ThinkPad T420 Bluetooth

My T420 did not come with Bluetooth, so I bought a daughter card but it still does not work.  Can't install the drivers because it says there isn't any Bluetooth hardware installed.  Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS.

Is there some othet piece of hardware I need to purchase and install?

Re: ThinkPad T420 Bluetooth

Hi

I hope laptop hardware wireless devices switch is turned on.
What BT card did you bought (p/n, FRU)? What (and where from) drivers did you install?

Re: ThinkPad T420 Bluetooth

Based on the information you've provided I'd assume the cause of the issue might be broken BT card itself if:
- it's connected to the laptop correctly;
- there are no defects from the BT card location to the systemboard.

One conclusion - if the card is technically serviceable, it should be recognised by system and visible in the Device Manager (at least as on of the hidden device) or powershell, for instance, even w/o drivers installed.

Re: ThinkPad T420 Bluetooth

If it is the right card and the card is OK, it will show up in the device manager.  It will need a driver to work properly.

Re: ThinkPad T420 Bluetooth

Sorry mate, as I recall I also updated the BT driver from the Lenovo support site, but that was under Windows 7. I didn't have to do anything under Windows 10.

Although, I will say that Windows 10 BT management is horrible.
