T420 upgraded to Win 10 and 8MB RAM installed.
When I go to Shop/support/Tech Support (update drivers etc); detect my product, it comes up with the 'old' stuff ie Windows 7 64bit and the old 2MB RAM etc. This is causing me great confusion because I am unsure about downloading updates that do not reflect my current setup with Win 10, 8MB RAM etc.
Someone (from Microsoft Community) who knows more about this than me suggests the following: and I quote:
"According to the screenshots, and just as you've initially stated, it shows that your system is being detected as Windows 7. However, this will also show if the machine was manufactured originally with a Windows 7 installed.
This would mean that the specifics of the machine on the serve page is not being detected, or it does not need to detect the machine at all. If this perception is correct, what shows up is the default or how the manufacturer produced their machine. Perhaps, for a reason that the machine was manufactured before the launch of Windows 10.
It would be the best idea to contact the manufacture about downloading the drivers that will be compatible with Windows 10, and to suggest them that an update on their page will be helpful for the users."
Service Bridge is running on my machine.
Solution Centre reports no alerts.
Lenovo System Update Centre reports no updates found.
Windows updates are functioning normally.
I confirm my machine was manufactured 2012 with Win 7.
I currently do not have any issues to address apart from the updates.
Has anyone come across this issue before? How do I contact Lenovo to let them know about this issue.

Welcome to the forum.
Yes, I've encountered this issue. The T420 isn't officially supported by Lenovo to run Windows 10. As a result there may not be drivers available for certain hardware features. Likewise some features of Lenovo utilities like Companion and Settings may not function.
In these situations the Win7/8.1 versions will probably continue to work. However, note that there's no official support and, of course, there won't be any enhancements going forward.
Nevertheless there are many T420 systems still in use. Chances are good that if you run into issues with your T420 and Win10 you'll be able to find a solution for it on this forum.

Just out of curiosity, how did you upgrade? Clean install or another method?
I have a T420 and two T420s running Win10 without any issues. I rarely go to the Lenovo page myself to pick up drivers, normally I use Lenovo System Update who does the job of taking care of all drivers. I don't use Companion or Lenovo Settings in these machines though.
