Machine: ThinkPad T440p (20AN-009DMS)
Boradband adapter: Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
Problem: Unable to detect an inserted SIM card.
What I have tried:
Successfully re-installed (Windows had detected device and installed default drivers) Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE drivers - http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?-DocID=DS040771
Failed to install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation - http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001273. It fails with the message "There is no supported wireless WAN card installed in this computer. This setup cannot continue..."
I am out of ideas.

You don't really need this software to use your WWAN card, in fact even you succeed to install it, it might prove unuseful to you (Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation is an application for ThinkPad systems to support mobile broadband (3G/4G) activation for various service providers)(various providers not equal all providers). You could use Windows to manage the WWAN connection directly.

A1X thanks for your answer.
I read the http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/mobile-broadband-from-start-to-finish and I am not able to complete cause if I open up the networks pane it says "Inser a SIM" in the "Mobile Broadband" section.
I did double check that the SIM is entered correctly in the slot. The proper way is on the chassis.
I did double check that the SIM works with an USB 4G modem.
So in conclusion, the main issue seems to be that the machine is unable to detect that I have inserted a SIM.
Not much to go with, but maybe you have some ideas what to try next before I go to Lenovo Service.
