I have a T540p and noticed that the ethernet lights remain iluminated when the device enters hibernation (plugged in or on battery) when there is not an ethernet cable connected.
After searching around online, I found two similar cases; one was the result of a driver issue and was was a hardware fault. I am led to believe this is a driver issue as the port functions properly and has never sustained any form of liquid damage. I tried disabling the Wake on LAN features as described in the thread I came across, but the behavior still persists.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I fixed it in the below path:
" Boot menu (BIOS) > Setup > Config tab > Wake On LAN "
I changed "Wake On LAN" value from "AC Only" to "Disabled" .
And now, Ethernet lights in hibernation mode won't remain on.
