Hi all,

I have purchased Lenovo Thinkpad T580 several months ago.

These are specifications of my model:

  • Display : 15.6" UHD (3480 x 2160) IPS anti-glare
  • Memory : 20 GB (4 + 16) DDR4 2400MHz
  • Graphic Card : Integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 620
  • Camera : IR & 720p HD Camera with microphone
  • Security Chip : Hardware dTPM
  • TPM Setting : Hardware dTPM2.0 Enabled
  • First Hard Drive : 256 GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0 M.2
  • Front Battery : 4 cell Li-Ion 32Wh
  • Rear Battery : 6 cell Li-Ion 72Wh Cylindrical
  • Power Cord : 65W AC Adapter (2pin) - USB Type C
  • Wireless : Intel Dual Band 8265 Wireless AC (2 x 2) & Bluetooth 4.1 with vPro
  • Display Panel : 15.6" UHD (3840x2160), slim flat IPS, No Touch, with IR-Camera, with Mic, with WLAN, No WWAN
  • Base : Intel Core i7-8650U Processor, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620

It's a very good notebook and works very well, but after some time I noticed some problems with the screen.

First I noticed ghost images which are becoming more sharp by time, and later screen started flickering on boot up.

Here you can see screen flickering on boot up:

Here you can see screen image ghosing:

I don't know what's causing these problems. I suspect it's a hardware issue, but don't know exactly which part is the source of the problem.

Please advice me, how can I fix it.

Kind regards,
Ioram

Re: ThinkPad T580 screen flickering and image ghosting

Hi Ioram!

Thanks for posting in the Community,

During Boot up or while during image ghosting, try moving the screen a bit and check for any changes. We can also check if there's any changes after a power drain,

We also notice in the video that you're running Ubuntu on your laptop. May we know that version it is? We'd like to check as it's only the 16.04 that are listed here as tested to work with this model,
