ThinkVantage GPS -- does not find satellites

Question

I have a new T400 and cannot get the internal GPS to work. When I start the application, the message says "Satellite acquisition in progress" . However, satellites are never found. Is it possible the GPS hardware needs to be activated somehow, other than just starting the Thinkvantage GPS application?

Answer

In order for the WWAN card to detect the GPS reliably, you would need to be outdoors and not in an enclosed area. The ThinkVantage GPS application is sufficient to enable the GPS.

I also have the same problem. I am pretty much outside.. My T510 gobi 2000 is recognized but gps is searching satellities for last two days..

Do I have to buy sim card for that? I don't think so. gps has nothing to do with simcard.
