I bought a Thinkpad T460s laptop and replace the build-in 128G M.2 Sata SSD with Samsung M.2 NVM 950 pro 256G SSD. It works perfectly fine with Windows 7.
I do noticed that the T460s still have another M.2 42MM slot which can be used for 4G WWAN card, will this slot be used for another SSD drive? Such as MyDigitalSSD Super Boot Drive 256GB M.2 SATA 42mm SSD? Or it can only take M.2 PCIE 42mm SSD which isn't availabe on the market at moment.
Any suggestion will be appriciated!

Transcend 2242 MTS400 Sata III M.2 SSD 256Gb is not recognised by Windows 10 or the bios in the M.2 WWAN socket on my T460s. The drive is not faulty - it's now functioning in a USB enclosure. Lenovo support suggested on phone that the WWAN socket supports SSD but I have not seen this confirmed. Experience of others would be interesting.

I am about to purchase the SataIII M.2 2242 SSD, it looks like the WWAN socket won't support SATA bus.
Not sure any 2242 pcie SSD will be available in the future or maybe this stupid WWAN socket won't accept SSD at all.
It is a bit disappointed that T460s won't support two SSD hard drives.
I have a X220, and it supports one 2.5" SSD and one Msata SSD.
I use VMware very often and hope I can keep all the VMware file on another HDD, but T460s won't achive this task.

Tried a 2242 Transcend SSD on the T460s and it's not detected .
Anyone knows the technical details on why it doesn't work?
Is it possible that a BIOS update can bring SSD compatibility?

Do you have a pic of the installed m2 ssd ?
I have a T560 and like to install a M2 SSD, but I see I'm not the only one who think the documentation of Lenovo isn't the best part of that company ?
Do the 460/560 only support NVE m2 ssd or also Sata m2 ssd ?

I just received my t460s and attempted to install the samsung 950 pro. I used acronis to backup the default 128GB SSD to an external.
Then, I installed the 950 pro and I used diskpart (WinPE w/ acronis media) to setup the partitions similar to the the 128 GB SSD
System Drive - 100 MB
Recovery - 128 MB
Windows7_OS (C - 460 GB
Lenovo_Recovery (Q - 13.5 GB
Afterwards, I used acronis to recover the backup to the the 950 pro.
This all succeeds, but when the machine reboots, "Starting Windows" shows for a few seconds and the machine blue screens. Also, I gave the Windows Startup Repair a try and tried to recover via the Lenovo Recovery. When attempting Lenovo Recovery, I immediately receive "Recovery Failed".
I retried this again and to now avail.
Any tips/suggestions? If there's a how-to or recommended procedure, that would be awesome!

M.2 (SATA) SSD`s dont work in T4/560.
PCIE/NVME maybe, but there are none availible in 2242 size anyway.
I tried to install an Adata SP600 m.2 2242 in the T560 of a collegue, same one that works perfectly in my T550.
1st surprise was that the 560 no longer has a 3rd m.2 slot.
So i tried to replace the WAN/LTE card with the SSD but it does not show in BIOS or windows.
To make sure it wasn't the disks fault i tested it in my 550 (repleced the WAN card), and now i have 3 (1x2,5" 2xM.2 2242) working SSD's :-) .
(the one in the WAN slot does not show in the boot selector however, but is recogized in windows)
