Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:23:38 AM): You can upgrade to M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s
Me (7/21/2017, 8:23:52 AM): http://www.storagereview.com/images/StorageReview-Samsung-850-EVO-m2-SSD-Two.jpg
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:23:58 AM): And I am verying if it is 2.5 Inch SSD
Me (7/21/2017, 8:24:02 AM): is it this type ?
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:24:07 AM): Sorry but we can;t open those links

Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:33:22 AM): I just checked and in this case, your computer is using SATA 6.0Gb/s. It is using a 2.5" SSD type and you can upgrade it but unfortunately we donl't have any available now
Me (7/21/2017, 8:36:01 AM): sorry i dont get you

Me (7/21/2017, 8:38:05 AM): I am going to order the upgrage SSD for this laptop based on your decision
Me (7/21/2017, 8:39:21 AM): It is T470S
Me (7/21/2017, 8:39:45 AM): I Know T470 supports 2,5" inch ssd but this S version i am not sure
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:40:13 AM): Right. The ThinkPad T470s has different storage options but it only comes with the one that you chose first.
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:40:40 AM): For example, you chose Intel 180GB Solid State Drive, 2.5", SATA3, OPAL2.0 and only that 2.5", SATA3 connection has
Me (7/21/2017, 8:41:22 AM): if that is case there is no difference between t470 and t470s both specs are same expect for t470s price is more
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:44:16 AM): Yes, we can say that. The T470 and T470s storage difference is T470 can have HDD instead of SSD
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:44:43 AM): Adn T470s only SSDs
Me (7/21/2017, 8:45:12 AM): ok so confirm that t470s supports 2,5" inch SSD?
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:46:05 AM): Yes. That confims your T470s supports 2.5" SATA3 SSDs
Me (7/21/2017, 8:47:05 AM): Ok fine thanks i will proceed to buy the upgrade 2.5 inch ssd upgrade instead of m.2 ssd
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:47:05 AM): Unfortunately, we don't have any available but any 2.5" SATA3 SSD will work
Me (7/21/2017, 8:47:16 AM): thanks
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:47:23 AM): Right and sounds good
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:47:30 AM): No problem and you are welcome.
Sales Agent (7/21/2017, 8:47:47 AM): It has been a pleasure to assist you and would you like me to assist you with anything else today?

Re: Thinkpad T470S supports 2.5 inch SSD upgrade ?

Welcome to the forum.

According to Lenovo's ThinkPad_T470s_Platform_Specifications.pdf the T470s models do not have a bay for 2.5" drives.

By contrast ThinkPad_T470_Platform_Specifications.pdf indicates that the T470 models do have such a bay.

Re: Thinkpad T470S supports 2.5 inch SSD upgrade ?

As hausman says, the platform specs say pciE m2 only, this page has a photo of the internals.... there is no-where for a 2.5 inch drive to fit:

Re: Thinkpad T470S supports 2.5 inch SSD upgrade ?

I have the same quesion. It seems to me there is no space for 2.5' ssd. It should be M.2 SATA ssd slot only. However, they said there is 2.5' ssd ( 180GB)  in this T470s. Have you received your T470s yet. What exactly inside?

Many thanks.

Who do you believe more, some "they" or Lenovo's official specifications as linked above?

Re: Thinkpad T470S supports 2.5 inch SSD upgrade ?

From the T470s picture, I think it is m.2 ssd only ( sata or pcie ), not 2.5 inch form. No space.... However, still want to get confirmation from the onwer..

Re: Thinkpad T470S supports 2.5 inch SSD upgrade ?

Hello,

I was just thinking, in case you opted for the Intel 180GB SSD SATA3 configuration, will you be restricted to SATA3 m.2 SSD only? Or NVMEs will still be compatible? I was under the impression that once you have chosen SATA3, you cannot upgrade to an NVME.

Re: Thinkpad T470S supports 2.5 inch SSD upgrade ?

I believe the slot supports either SATA or NVMe format drives.
