Thumbdrive error

2009-11-17, 10:47 AM

I have been using the thumbdrive slot very often and recently I found the thumbdrive to be self installing icons and executionable files. which are autorun.ini and Highspeed drivers.exe. Are these viruses? My laptop does not seem to be slowing down or any sort of things like that. Please advice, thank you

Re: Thumbdrive error

There was a time when a virus was passed around using MSN and embedd itself into thumbdrives and harddisk. Most of the antivirus in my office didnt' detect or react to this 0 day virus and everyone got hit (norton, AVG, Mcafee...etc). Only my T61 installed with Kaspersky IS detected and block the virus. You can download a trial version at Kaspersky and scan your thumbdrive.

The good news is that there was a cure. Once (and if) kaspersky identify the virus, copy down the name and google it +cure, there bound to be some soluation around. Kaspersky may be able to cure it now, but at that time it could only quarantine it.

PS: I don't work for kaspersky
