I guess the only thing to do is to take it apart and clean it;

Hello, I have the same problem with my T420, I didn't do anything to the laptop, but the mouse buttons stopped working. However, the trackpad I guess where you move the cursor does work. Pressing FN+F8 and switching off the trackpad only makes the buttons above the pad work. How do I fix this.

I have the same problem with my laptop, a little coffee was spilled on the left and right click buttons below the touchpad. And then all 'select' buttons won't work, only the scrolls are working. Touchpad and keyboard have already been cleaned up by IT specialists, all buttons have started working (though not consistent) except for the left and right click buttons below the touch pad which seems to be both functioning as right click. Do you know what else can be done? Im currently using a mouse but the right click won't work (which works when used in other laptops)

I have a T420 which is about a year old. It is running only Ubuntu and has been fine since I got it but then randomly the other day I passed it to my parter sitting next to me for no more than 5 minutes and when she passed it back the mouse button appeared to 'stick' this is not a mechanical stick - it was a software stick...?
If thats possible...?
The pointer and associated buttons work fine.
