Touchpad reverts to default settings (enable tapping problem)

I have this annoyance with my touchpad. I constantly have to go into the control panel and deselect the enable tapping checkbox. I know for a fact that every time my computer turns off/restarts that the enable tapping button is selected again when I log back on. I am not 100% sure if this always happens after putting the computer to sleep/hibernating.

I have tried updating the driver and reinstalling the driver to no avail. I would really like to fix this since the enable tapping function really annoys me while doing CAD work.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am running a T420s with Windows 7.

Let me know if you need any more computer specs.

Re: Touchpad reverts to default settings (enable tapping problem)

Disable the touchpad in the BIOS.  Restart.  Shut down, restart and open BIOS and re-enable it.

Does it behave then?

Nope. Still automatically reverts to tapping enabled.

I updated my synaptics driver last month but I will check on Monday when I am back in town and let you know the exact version.
