TrackPoint Problems

I recently got a Thinkpad T420.  One of my favorite features is the nub, but for the past few days the nub has been impossible to use.  It will click things randomly and rapidly and also freezes and shakes the mouse.  Once I deactivate trackpoint it works fine, but it's one of my favorite features. I just bought the computer two weeks ago so I can't imagine the keyboard breaking already. Is it a software problem or something?

Re: TrackPoint Problems

@OutWeRoll,

Check and see if you have the latest UltraNav Driver and Utility.

Also try booting into BIOS and reset to default. See if it helps.

Re: TrackPoint Problems

Thank you. That seemed to have worked. I had no problems yesterday after I downloaded the driver.

On a completely different note. Do you know how to stop the computer from logging off every time you close the laptop? It's been bothering me for a long time and I don't want to create a whole new thread about it.

Re: TrackPoint Problems

Check the power management settings (either in the thinkpad power manager or the windows power control panel)

Re: TrackPoint Problems

@OutWeRoll,

In Power Manager 3.62 -> Advance -> Global Power Settings -> Events -> Lid Close -> Advance -> uncheck Lock workstation when lid is closed.
