Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

If I press any of the trackpad keys the cursor is unresponsive for ~2 seconds. The problems occurs a while after booting. If I restart the machine it doesn't happen. What should I do?

Re: Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

I noticed exactly the same behaviour after upgrading the driver to version 15.3.2.0. Also when i use the trackpoint, the touchpad freezes 2 seconds..... Somehow the UltraNav driver always seems to give some kind of problems... :-(

With the buttons it only happens with the red lined buttons above the touchpad. Not with the two buttons below it.

Re: Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

The red-edged keys above the touchpad belong to the Trackpoint pointing system. By default, the drivers assume that if you use those buttons, you're using the TrackPoint and hence temporarily disables the touchpad to prevent accidental tapping. Same goes for keystrokes; you usually aren't hitting keys while using the touchpad (unless you're trying to game on a touchpad, which isn't the best idea anyway).

Hit Fn+F8, Manage Settings, UltraNav tab, touchpad settings, turn down PalmCheck. It should work.

Re: Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

Thank you.

Slid it completely left and seems to work. But strange it doesn't happen right after boot.

I like to use the right Trackpoint button with my left thumb. It's more ergonomical (low travel distance when switching to writing. You can hold your fingers right were they should be for touch typing.

Re: Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

Didn't realize that this was implemented as designed. Great, now i understand it. Until now i was using either the two red-lined buttons and the buttons below randomly, without reliazing this behaviour and that the top buttons actuaaly were meant to be used in combination with the trackpoint.

Thanks, Jan

Re: Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

It doesn't happen right after boot because the SynTP___.exe's haven't completely initialized to implement the relevant UltraNav policies.

Sometimes it does indeed seem more ergonomic to use the TrackPoint buttons with the touchpad, but I tend to stick to TrackPoint entirely.
