Trouble with WiFi Driver for Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 in ThinkPad T430 on Windows Server 2016

2016-10-30, 14:07 PM

I am trying to set up a fresh installation of Windows Server 2016 as a development machine on my T430, type 2349-H2G. Unfortunately, when trying to install the driver for the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 network adapter to enable wireless LAN, the driver set-up fails with the message:

A service installation section in this INF is invalid

The wireless adapter worked fine as recently as yesterday on Windows Server 2012, but I am unaware if any special steps were taken to install the driver under that OS as I "inherited" the notebook from a former colleague.

Is there any advice you can give about things I could try? I already tried manually installing the drivers from both the Lenovo website (Win10) and Intel website (Win8.1 and 7), but all of them had the same issue. I am a sophisticated user and am not afraid to edit .inf files or somethign similar if necessary, but I don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance for any help you might render

Inside installation folder of driver (drivers\win\wlanint\Drivers\Win8) execute iprodifx.exe and thats all. For me works....
