USB not working on ThinkPad Pro Docking Station (T480)

Hi,

 

all USB ports on docking station seems to be not working (Mouse/Keyboard... etc). I have 2 same docking station, both have same issue, so problem may be more propably in laptop (or drivers). But i updated everything...

 

 

Laptop

  • Model: ThinkPad T480
  • Product Key: 20L50002MC
  • S/N: *
  • Windows 10 64bit, Version 1803
  • BIOS: N24ET43W 1.18

 

Dock

  • Model: ThinkPad Pro Docking Stations
  • Type: 40AH
  • S/N: *

 

Any ideas?

Recently there has been ThinkPad Docking Station firmware update posted on the Web.

Have you tried this firmware and still see the issue?

 

Also Thunderbolt firmware update contains some dock related fix according to Readme file.  This is also worth trying if you haven't.

Thanx for tips, but...

- I have already newer version of drivers

- Cant see any firmware for my docking station on that page

Take a look at this thread. I had problems with Linux Mint but I solved it with the Thunderbold FW Update and changing the BIOS settings

We've been having major issues with the thunderbolt docks. Many issues with USB specifically. Many unhappy users.

So....are we to just live with this?  I am in and out of my office often and wanted to be more fluid and just grab my laptop and roll.  Now I hav eto unplug, re plug.  Not a big deal, but I spent almost 300 on a dock for this convenince and now just have a plastic object taking up more desk space.  Are there any Lenovo Reps that frequent these forums to offer help and advice?

We're doing a warranty service on 1 of our problem machines - looks like a new motherboard. Will report back with what we find.

Well...I am currently typing from my wireless keyboard with the dongle plugged INTO THE DOCK AND ITS WORKING!  I just ran updates for my system for about 45 mins.  After multiple updates, reboots, and completion, it works again!!  I used the Lenovo System update program from the supprt section of this website.
