I want to buy the official lenovo Ultrabay, so I can use it for an SSD and have my second drive in the other slot.
here is the link to the only place I can find it in the UK, and it doesnt say what models its fits :
And here on the Lenovo site, it doesnt say it fits the T510, but does lots of otehr models. is this right, will it not fit my T510?

The T510 accepts a 12.7mm thick Ultrabay adapter so yes the ones you've linked will work, i.e. part number 0A65623.

Its a bit strange it doesnt say it on the lenovo site? I am just a bit afraid of spending that much if it doesnt work
It must be a near impossible task for Lenovo to update the list of supported devices for every accessory as new models come out.
Perhaps these pages will help reassure you.
Post from Lenovo Support Specialist: T510/520 Drive Bay Adapter III and SSD compatibility
Amazon listing by Lenovo Canada: Lenovo 0A65623 THINKPAD SATA DRIVE 12.7MM BAY ADAPTER III ("Compatible with: T430, T530, W530 T420, T520, W520 T510, W510 W700, W701")
In any case if it doesn't fit you should be able to return it for refund.

You don't have to use Lenovo part for UltraBay HDD caddy adapter.
I bought mine (plural) from NewModeUS and various sellers on eBay. Less expensive, shipped faster, and equally functional and reliable.
Absolutely! The OP started with "I want to buy the official lenovo Ultrabay..." so that's what I responded to.
But FWIW I too have bought and used the clone Ultrabay adapters without any problems.

Surely the official lenovo one has got to be made to a higher standard?
It is, but at several times the price.
In my experience the clone adapters don't have the same "polish" and fit of the genuine article. I don't insert/remove the adapter very often. I also have spare ThinkPads and parts, including external enclosures, available. So in the event my primary system or the adapter fails I have lots of options. But if you the highest possible reliability you'll probably be better served with a genuine Lenovo adapter.
