Upgrade T420S??

2012-02-24, 9:31 AM

I was wondering what the open slot was for (not the RAM) found under the T420S; it's excluded from the RAM slot but in the same comprtment. Anyone have an idea?

This is a mini-PCIe slot and serves two purposes:

- 3G UMTS HSDPA WWAN card (only if your T420s is WWAN prepared, look for blue and red cables that arrive close to the slot. If not present then not WWAN prepared)

- mSATA Solid State Disk, SATA2, currenly available in sizes 60-256Gb

You can an install a mSATA SSD as a second drive. mSATA is different from regular SATA SSD.

X1 Carbon 3rd Gen Type 20BT i7-5500U, 2560x1440 (non-touch), Win 10 Pro, 8GB RAM, 512 SSD, Intel 7625 WiFi, BT 4.0 | ThinkVision P24q-10 monitor
