Video driver corruption after encryption

2019-01-09, 10:15 AM

Hi there Lenovo community!

Our company issues T480's, we use WDS and Lenovo System Update to get them ready for deployment. We're running on Windows 10 version 1703.

We use CheckPoint as a one-stop security solution (for anti-virus, VPN, disk encryption, firewall, etc). After Windows is installed and updated, and Lenovo System Update has had a chance to complete all it's updates we install CheckPoint.

After Full Disk Encryption has been activated and the software begins encrypting the C:-drive the video driver spazzes out and won't let you select any resolution other than 640*480. A workaround for this is installing the "ThinkPad Video Features Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad T480 (Type 20L5, 20L6)" package located here.

This only happens to the T480 and not to any other ThinkPad models we have running in production (anything between T440s to T480) so it looks like this is specific to this model.

Is this a known bug? Am I correct in assuming the problem is with this model rather than the CheckPoint software (since it only happens to this model)?

Thank you in advance, and I hope this workaround will work for the Googlers that end up here. :-)
