I'm considering buying a docking station to go with my T480 but I'm not certain what solution is best for me.
I want to connect two monitors, one runs 1920x1200@60P (VGA or DVI) and the other 1920x1080@60P (VGA or HDMI).
Initially I was considering the 'ThinkPad USB-C-dockingstation (40A90090EU)' and use the VGA plus one of the DP ports with an adapter. However, when I was reading the display configuration options for this dock I came to the conclusion that this does not seem to be possible. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#USB-C%20dock)
Browsing through the forum the second best option appears to be the 'ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock (40AC, 40AC0135XX)'.
The advantage is that it supports higher resolutions and direct HDMI connectivity. What I read from the display configuration options my configuration should not be an issue. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#thunderbolt)
However, I cannot confirm that this dock is compatible with a T480. I think it should be as the T480 manual lists one of the USB-C connectors on the left as Thunderbolt-3 compatible.
Does anyone have experience with this combination of hardware or otherwise can someone confirm this solution is going to work?
The docks are just to expensive for just giving it a try in my opinion.

As I write this post, I have my T480 connected to the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock.
Connected to my TB3 dock are dual 27" 1080P monitors @ 75hz via the 2 displayports at the back. This works perfectly without a hitch. If I want I can also run the display on the laptop as well without issue. I also have a USB mouse and cooling pad connected to the dock as well.
I'd choose the TB3 dock over the other docks such as the ultra dock since it uses TB3 technolgy. I really like how I just need to plug in one TB3 cable in order to connect everything while also charging the laptop. The 135w charger it comes with is more than powerful to charge the laptop at high speed while providing power to everything connected to the dock. I only wish the TB3 cable was a bit longer, but they probably included a shorter one because you lose signal transfer when you make the cable longer, unless it is an active cable which is what Lenovo should have included with this dock.
I've had a few instances where some ports don't seem to work when waking from sleep and such, but on the most part it has been quite reliable. I do have the latest firmware installed.
