Whitelisted WWAN Card gets bounced!!

All,

I have a lenovo T420s that is prepared for a WWAN card. I bought a Ericsson F3507g off ebay and opened up my the back of my computer to be pleasantly supriced the installation was about as easy as it could be.

But then I fired up the computer to get the error:

Error 1802 : unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the ...

This card is whitelisted.. I already updated to the latest BIOS.. what am i doing wrong???

many thanks,
Dennis

Re: Whitelisted WWAN Card gets bounced!!

welcome to the community.

sorry your having this issue.

to clarify for you, the wireless card must be a Lenovo FRU part to pass the whitelist. a generic non-oem card will fail.

as soon as i can get the hardware maintenance manual downloaded, i'll post back the part number for you.

regards.

edit: from the HMM downloadable here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-77103

pages 120-121 show two WWAN cards: Gobi 3000 (Qualcomm?) and Ericsson F5521gw, with FRU P/Ns of: 60Y3257 and 60Y3279, respectively. there are two other parts, but they specify for Malaysia.

where do you see that the Ericsson F3507g is in this specific pc's whitelist? i've never seen an actualwhitelist for any ThinkPad.

@dennisvl...

if you explore this, please be aware that installing a modified BIOS *might* put your warranty at risk.
