Writing here to report a working solution a USB-C Dock for thinkpads. This is the unit I have working 100% with HDMI, gigabit ethernet, 2 usb ports, and a SD card reader for $20:
The only problem with this dock is that the USB-C cord is only 6 inches long. I tried 2 other USB extension cords that did not work or worked sporadically, then I found this one for $10 that works 100%:
Because this dock only has 2 USB ports, I daisy chained an old 7 port USB hub into this dock, which works great for iDevices, android, keyboard, and mouse, etc:
It was kind of a pain to get this working configuration going due to issues I had with the non-working USB-C extension cords - I pass along this information to others to help!
I have this configuration working for a T470 and a Lenovo Legion Y530 (non-Thunderbolt USB-C only).
