digital camera via firewire is not recognized

Hello Lenovo community,

I have got a refurbished T400 (6474WHF) with XP Professional SP3, it works great so far. It has an Firewire (IEEE 1394) interface in front of it. When I connect my digital camera via IEEE, the camera is not recognized in any way. I tested my camera with my other PC, the camera works fine. I guess the IEEE interface is not activated in some way. I checked in BIOS but I could not find an option to enable the Firewire interface. Though, in my Thinkvantage Helpcenter, I found that there should be an IEEE option available. I already updated my BIOS but there is still no IEEE option available. Do you have any idea how to activate the internal IEEE interface ?

Re: digital camera via firewire is not recognized

Hello and welcome,

Do you see a 1394 setting BIOS -> Security -> I/O Port Access?

Re: digital camera via firewire is not recognized

Hello zoltanthegypsy, thx alot for this quick solution. Well, the IEEE 1394 BIOS option was a bit hidden in the tree. I surmised it on the same level as USB etc. So now everything works fine, camera is recognized, IEEE 1394 driver installed automatically etc. And yes, I will add some more info next time. I just thought as I'm already on T400 path of this forum, no need to repeat each detail of machine. At least I gave T400, s/n, XP SP3. Thx again.
