Re: ocz vertex 3 with t520 quad core fails with BSOD - help!

OCZ Success! Vertex 3 seemed to have issues first as I didn't have the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver on hand, and then I think my issue was being caused by trying to do a clean install from USB. For some reason, it seems very fussy about the USB ports during clean installs, and finally I gave up, booted from DVD, installed the drivers from the USB, and no problems at all.

Re: ocz vertex 3 with t520 quad core fails with BSOD - help!

I was trying to install Win7Ult on Vertex 3 tonight. Got same BSOD however, after 2-3 BSOD installation was not stopped and W520 finished it. After that I did not have any BSOD. Then I reinstalled OS again. First I alligned SSD, than loaded extracted IRST driver before instalation and did not see any BSODs during the process. Just share with you my experiance.

Re: ocz vertex 3 with t520 quad core fails with BSOD - help!

Thanks for this! The Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver fixed the issue for me.

When doing custom Windows7 install, I clicked Load Driver and installed Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller (iaAHCI.inf). Unfortunately, after I did this with AHCI enabled in BIOS, I got a message like "windows unable to install selected location 0x80300001"  Basically the driver seemed to make it so I couldn't install Windows. Maybe it thought the driver was incompatible with the drive??

It would install fine in AHCI mode without loading the driver, but then I would get BSOD on boot in AHCI mode, so I was kind of stuck. After trying a number of approaches, I tried installing with Compatibility mode in BIOS and loading the driver. The driver loaded fine and it let me install Windows without giving me the 0x80300001 error.

After it rebooted, I went into BIOS and switched to AHCI mode and it worked fine! No idea why, but I seem to be all set now. I see the controller in device manager with driver installed.

You should make a custom install disc that has the driver included, it should solve this issue. The tool below is all you need to accomplish this task.

Re: ocz vertex 3 with t520 quad core fails with BSOD - help!

I also came across a problem trying to replace the hard disk drive with a OCZ Vertex 3 on my brand new T520:

When I booted from the recovery dvds and confirmed the data loss warning (i.e. chose factory reset), the recovery program seemed not to start initializing the ssd but instead asked for the 3 recovery dvds one after another and then concluded that it cannot find "recovery.ini".  Then nothing: no reset, no progress.

Having read the posts in this thread I figured that it had something to do with the ssd and the (seemingly missing) Intel AHCI driver: After I set the BIOS setting from AHCI to "Compatible" the recovery tool actually worked and copied all files onto the ssd.

But different from the other approaches detailed here I tried the following:

In order to avoid the separate installation of the Intel AHCI driver (btw - the correct one is called "Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller") when the recovery program started to re-boot, I went into the BIOS again and switched back from "Compatible" to "AHCI", as I figured that way the Windows 7 installation program will install the Intel drivers automatically (as opposed to installing the regular SATA drivers and me having to replace them manually later).

Worked like a charm: W7 installation went through and installed the newest Intel AHCI driver.
