"Plugged In, Not Charging" Says My Laptop...

My laptop is a Lenovo T520 Thinkpad, Core i5 vPro, Windows 7 Professional, Lenovo Enhanced Experience 2.0. I got this laptop as a Christmas present from my sister, it was working fun when I got it, and then I did something stupid(I Forgot) and now it says "Plugged In, Not Charging", nothing else, it doesn't say, "Replace Battery" or anything like that, it just says "Plugged In Not Charging". I tried doing things, like uninstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and doing a scan for hardrive changes and it still didn't work! Please someone help me!

Re: "Plugged In, Not Charging" Says My Laptop...

Hello, InstaCream

Is that message (notification) from the system power (battery) icon in the system tray? What is the current battery charge level?

If Lenovo Power Manager application is installed, could you provide a snapshot of the battery settings? Launch PM -> Advanced mode -> Battery tab -> Battery Maintenance button. We need this screen.

Make a snapshot and give a link here as you don't have rights yet to add the images to the forum.

Re: "Plugged In, Not Charging" Says My Laptop...

The battery isn't detected by the system (laptop itself, not OS).
It might mean:
1. bad contact of the battery with laptop, damaged or unproper
2. the battery controller is broken
3. some circuit in the battery or laptop is broken
4. fuse in the DC-supply circuits in the laptop is blown up

Did you plug, unplug the battery while laptop was plugged-in?
Is this battery Lenovo original?

"1) Did you plug, unplug the battery while laptop was plugged-in?"

"2) Is this battery Lenovo original?"
1) Maybe, I Forgot, But Probably Not
2) Yes It Is

Re: "Plugged In, Not Charging" Says My Laptop...

Right now I'd advice:
1. try to charge the battery while laptop is powered off, one-two hours
2. if issue still persists, reset the BIOS/EC state:
unplug the charger and battery, press and hold the power button for 20...30 seconds. This action will reset laptop power sircuits. Boot laptop with battery and charger plugged-in and check out the battery state in the PM (like in the post #3 above)
3. if issue still persists, power off laptop, unplug the charger and battery, plug-in the charger only, power on laptop in the safe mode, launch Device Manager, remove MS ACPI device, power off laptop, unplug the charger, plug-in the battery and charger, power on laptop. ACPI driver should be reinstalled. Check out the battery status.

4. One more test.
Open command prompt window (cmd) with administrative privileges, execute the following command:
powercfg -energy

You'll get some information about ACPI subsystem state.

5. Read the post below about battery recall program:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Expanded-battery-recall-program/m-p/2240...

6. Check out and try to upgrade the battery firmware
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-T-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-T52...

I hope the recent Lenovo Power Management Driver is installed.

Did you check with any laptop repair shop? May be issue with DC jack or motherbaord.

Re: "Plugged In, Not Charging" Says My Laptop...

Does AC and DC the same thing? I Already replaced my AC plug(where the plug goes into the slot thingy), and btw, whats a DC jack? A USED motherboard(not broken) is probably $200! If it's not the motherboard, i don't want to waste money. (BTW I'm Asian if you haven't realized)

Re: "Plugged In, Not Charging" Says My Laptop...

What helped me was installing the Lenovo Vantage app, then running the Power Gauge Reset option. Now mine is charging fine.
