t410s: How can I replace sd reader slot to express card slot?

I want to use IEEE 1394 port. So I want to replace sd reader slot to 34mm express card slot.

How can I replace it?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I suggest studying the HMM for T410s, but I think you would be better off buying a new T410s with express card slot and selling your current one due to cost and work involved in this.

If i remember correctly, the card reader is nothing but a expresscard slot adapter, which you can remove to gain the use of the expresscard slot. However, it does require some disassembly of the laptop to remove the screw that holds the card reader adapter in the expresscard slot.

has anyone actually achieved this? the HMM would indicate it is possible but looking at these pics maybe something is different from t400s vs t410s
