My T470 is hanging when attempting to boot. It hangs on the "Lenovo" screen and then eventually enters "Boot Menu". I ran the lenovo diagnostics and it threw an error code:
20181124T213405UTC START STORAGE_READ_TEST
20181124T213410UTC STOP STORAGE_READ_TEST FAILED 5 S
STOP TESTS UHD020020-UN7W0I
Does anyone know what this means? This is on an SSD. Any chance of data recovery? I have no idea where to find information on this error code and no idea how to contact lenovo for information/tech support (all contact pages just seem to be pointers to resources, these forums or order support).
My machine is out of warranty (standard 1 year, purchased ~1.5 years ago) but I did buy with amex with plan that it would cover me for an extra year. Does anyone have experience with this process? What information I would need to get to have amex cover the repairs.

I don't have experience with Amex but generally credit card companies require that you get at least one cost estimate from a qualified repair center. Once they approve the estimate you would get the system repaired, pay the repair center and then get reimbursed by the card company. I would contact Amex for specific details in your situation.

If an SSD dies, data recovery is unlikely.
