i just bought a couple of these older batteries and took my chances as a forum member here said that the newer ultrabay 43 would fit these older models so i though my reverse thinking would work.
tried to drop these batteries into my t420s but was stopped by a little tab jutting out on the battery. shaving off that tab is a no problem 5 sec job with my dremel but i was wondering will that back power connector be compatible with the t420s? should be right?

Since the Ultrabay adapters are not the same, the batteries may have a problem with ejecting/removal. The T400/500 series adapter has a different ejection mechanism that uses a protruding stud on the rear edge. This stud is engaged by a pusher slide in combination with a spring loaded latch button on the bottom of the Thinkpad.
I believe the electrical connection is the same on the adapters - basically SATA, data and power. You might get the older battery in OK but have a problem removing it. I don't know for sure, since I have never used an Ultrabay battery. But, the adapters are not the same.

hmm ill defeintely have to give this a try tonight.
i thoguth the T60s were different in design according to this post?
when i put in the battery as far as i could get it last night, i could still eject it with the slider on the bottom of my t420s...so maybe, just maybe it may still work. the battery fit in slightly snug. defeintely not the smooth drop in action of the optical drive. you can see some streak marks created when it rubbed when i put the battery in.
i think this older ultrabay battery fits my t43p yet althought i havent gotten a chance to try it out.

batteries DO NOT fit. battery goes in alot further when that little tab is shaved off however i think the problem is not with the rear ejection piece but with the one on the side of the battery. im sure it would fit if that side ejection protruding piece is shaved off but i dont want to mangle this battery that far. ah well...anyone want these genuine batteries? ahaha
