4965ABGN does that really connects at higher speed

2008-05-17, 21:55 PM
Dear Everyone,
I bought a new Belkin N wireless Router and tried to connect through my T61 hoping that it will be much better and faster connectivety than my previous Netgear Router which was only supoporting the G types. Unfortunately my system crashed and now it has finally recovered but the connection i am getting with my router doesnt go more than 144 mpbs. Kinldy tell me how can sort out my issues and is that the maximum connectivity speed which I am getting or is there an improvement chance
Does that really works or just money making gimmicks from the laptop and router manufacturers.
Thanks

N Sheikh

is it a 5ghz router? if not, you are already doing better than expected at 2ghz.  I get 130mbps on my 2ghz linksys wrt160n.

to get max 300mbps, u also need to be using full WPA2-PSK encryption per the specification for 802.11n - the channel issue I'm not sure though.  I've been able to get 300mbps on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels using channel bonding.

The below posters have it correct, you will only achieve 144 Mbps using only 2.4GHz.

Well I am using the WPA2-PSK encryption on my router well i dont have an idea whether its 5 ghz but ia m very sure because my last one was 802.1g which was ineterferring with my cordless phones and when i bought my new router i told my problem and they said it will not ineterfere with my cordlessphone so  i think then it will be on 5ghz.

Well hope to get it sorted with help of you gurus out there.

Thanks
