AHCI crashing Vista 64 (looping) when boot.

2008-10-11, 14:01 PM

Hello,

I just completed a clean install to my T61P (6459).  Prior to the installation, my SATA settings in BIOS was set to Compatibility.  Everything else works fine after the installation, including all my applications, etc.  Now, I want to change my SATA settings to AHCI, but it crashes everytime I boot.  How do I resolve this problem.  Please advise.

welcome to the forum!

vista has AHCI support built in, so when you set it to compatibility mode it didn't install ACHI drivers.    you either need to install the intel matrix storage manager for vista x64 or reinstall vista with SATA set to AHCI.

installation instructions are at the bottom of the link i provided.
