Advanced Dock Graphics

2008-05-22, 19:34 PM
Hello,

I currently use a z61t Thinkpad, but instead of using it for business I use it for gaming. I currently want to buy an advanced dock for my laptop, and since it has a PCIe slot I was sure that there was little to no risk. Unfortunately I am still uncertain since I continuously see people who get this dock have problems. Over time I found some solutions like this
Unfortunately the Idea of 4 monitors wasn't the goal I was attempting to reach

So, the question is this: What kind of graphics cards can I use on this dock?

Any reply greatly appreciated

the advanced dock is waste of money for games, there is only one Graphics card known to work with it... i think it is half height Ati X1300 or something... why underpowered for games.... save yourself the money and just get a half decent desktop...

While Im glad you replied, I still don't wish to give up my computer when there should be other graphics options available. So until then I can only hope for another person's advice

here is some articles that you can contemplate on, before you go out to buy your graphics card....

you may also ask one of the Moderators whom should have more experience with the advanced docks.

While I have taken time into looking at the "256MB ATI Radeon X1300", It was clear that It would be hard for me to get. Before I even bought my laptop, I stumbled upon a review on the Z61t. Fortunately he was also testing the advanced dock. What amazed me was that he was using a "XFX Geforce Nvidia 6600 256MB". The fact that he was able to run it (even though it ran on full x16 bus) is possibly the only thing that leaves me in speculation. On the other hand, almost every time I encountered a person who had problems with the dock and a graphics card, they ran on vista. (Most importantely that I run on XP) importantly

P.S. How do I contact a moderator

You can have a look at other posts, and the mods name should be in orange or something, then you click on their name.
