Re: Dual-link DVI capability for 30" display at 2560x1600 resolution through Advanced Mini Dock

Thanks for posting your results, makes me have hope 30" is feasible.

1)  Do you notice any lag or slowdowns when scrolling through rich websites?  In other words, more lag or sluggishness than when you were at 1680x1200?

2)  Do you also use the analog VGA output for dual display at the same time as driving the 30" screen (with laptop screen off)?

Hi
I have R61 7742CTO with nVidia quadro, I wanted to know if I can connect a 1080p screen to my laptop thru DVI-D support of mini dock?, can there be any problem?, I have a blu ray drive therefore interested in this.

Thanks

No, absolutely fine performance.

No, I don't. Even when I have the laptop open next to the 30" display and use them both in dual-screen mode I do not notice any performance degradation.

Re: Dual-link DVI capability for 30" display at 2560x1600 resolution through Advanced Mini Dock

Sorry to resurrect this thread but it seems that my question fits. I have a T61 with a Nvidia NVS140. I have 2 22" Samsung monitors that I would like to connect to my laptop. I would like to connect them both via DVI for the best picture.

I see that some have mentioned that they have a dual DVI on an advanced mini dock, however the specs look like it only has one. Does this require different hardware? Or do I just need to get the full size dock and use the PCIe video card to get dual dvi?

I think you are confusing "two ports" with "dual-link." Dual-link DVI is just one port, but it carries more information than the single-link DVI and it's required for 30" displays.

So, to answer your question, you can only connect one display via DVI to the Advanced Mini Dock, but you could connect the other one to the VGA port and still have two 22" displays.

Re: Dual-link DVI capability for 30" display at 2560x1600 resolution through Advanced Mini Dock

One more question on this please...

I have a Thinkpad T60 or T61, with the Advanced Mini Dock (2504).  RIght now it is attached to a 24-inch (1920x1200) monitor over DVI.  I have only the integrated graphics (Mobile Intel 965 Express).

I can see that the connector on the Advanced Mini Dock is "dual link" (i.e. it has all the pins).  But I am wondering whether I will be able to hook up a 30-inch (2560x1600) monitor and have it work, given my weaker graphics card.  Does anyone know?
