Re: How to disable the BACK key??

2011-12-11, 3:54 AM

Oh please. Don't you know the BACKSPACE button also act as page pack button too?  I use page back often too.  But I am using the BACKSPACE button to do so.

And if I press BACKSPACE in IE, IE will give me a warning and confirm it, but the Lenovo Back button gives no warning.

the page back button is NOT supposed to put togeter with the backspace key, only Lenovo do all these unuserfriendly design.  I hope one day I can meet this designer and give him a slap on his face.

And the stupid Fn and Ctrl key position is just not in the right position!!!! users use pinky to press the Ctrl, but the Ctrl key is not in the left most position but at the FN position where users are hardly using it!!!

Re: How to disable the BACK key??

I installed the Thinkvanage keyboard Customiser Utility, and it does not run.  giving me some crazy error msg: Keyboard Customizer is already being used by aother user.  Please logoff all users and try again.

What the hell?  I restarted my X201 and still the same

Out of frustration, I popped the Back and Forward button with my Army knife, did some simple surgery to the keyboard by removing the rubber (that bounces the key back up when pressed).  Now the Back and Forward button is physically and permanently disabled.

THANKS. After finishing a lengthy EBAY listing TWICE, I nearly threw this laptop out the window myself, twice. That is a STUPID place to put the back button. And it erased EVERYTHING. Ebay starts over from the beginning. The buttons should be called the DESTROY Backwards and Forward buttons.

Hi yamafx4dude,

I requested a listing autosave feature for ebay years ago. I guess they never implemented it! You can save drafts manually by hitting the Save & Continue button though.

On the latest ThinkPads Lenovo is trying new keyboards without the browser back/forward buttons. Some people are complaining about that! Like they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time...

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Take a small thin flat head screwdriver and pry the darn thing off the keyboard, looks bad, but it makes you feel better, and it's the only thing I've tried that actually works.

Re: How to disable the BACK key??

This laptop cost me $$$ today with its back button. I cracked it in half and I still didn't feel better because I still have another one of these pieces of garbage. I am going to crack it in half once I get my new laptop which I can tell you isn't from this brand.

I found a really easy fix that doesn't require anything more than a nail file or butter knife. Wedge your tool under the back and forward keys and pop them off. Place them in the garbage or if you intend to put them back on (why??!) you can save them for later. Once they are off you wont even notice it and you wont have the problem again.

I tell everyone anymore to stay away from Lenovo. If they couldn't figure this out preproduction you got to know they just don't have any common sense. You learn these buttons suck within 5 minutes of using the laptop. So for me that means they don't care.

DOWN WITH LENOVO!

The keyboard customizer solution works for a while, but every so often the back/forward keys will magically start working again. When I go into keyboard customizer, the keys are already turned off, so I'll have to turn them back on, apply changes, and then turn them back off again. I assume this is not the intended behavior, and I strongly request a more permanent solution.
